Hand of Creation

Summary

Hand of creation is a small adventure puzzle game about a small creature that stole the hand of creation from god and now travels through purgatory in an attempt to find safety. The hand of creation allows it to create blocks and platforms and use them to traverse the levels.

Level Design

I spent most of the time focusing on the level design and figuring out different challenges, I tried to base my levels around figuring out the correct path and sequence to place my blocks. Therefore i split up the level in 3 different rooms, where the first 2 used one puzzle each that needed to be solved different solutions and the last one combined both previous puzzles into a larger one.  

Design challenges

One of the biggest challenges we had as a design team was the main mechanic. Originally we had a mechanic where the player could use the mouse to move certain objects and use them to traverse the challenges of the different levels. We quite realised that making good puzzles would be hard with this mechanic and decided to change it to a system where you created up to a fixed number of blocks or platforms. While this helped in the puzzle making it also meant we were 2 weeks behind on the level design.
